What are riches anyway? I assume that you would answer that they were possession. When a person has a lot of the medium of exchange we call money we call him a rich person. How foolish! The probability is that they are not nearly as rich as some other folks who have very little of this world's money in the bank. Money is merely a medium of exchange. It is a physical symbol of value by which we trade what we have for something we want.

There are many things that money cannot buy. It can never purchase the salvation of the soul. It cannot buy divine healing. All of the gold securely buried in Kentucky cannot bring peace to a troubled heart. All of the wealth of the oil fields and refineries cannot purchase the hope of resurrection or impart the blessing of everlasting life. Solomon, the wisest man, found this out. He discovered that the only real source of riches was the blessing of the Lord that made you rich indeed and what is more, there was no sorrow from the dregs of the cup.

It is no wonder to me that if a man as wise as Solomon put values in the wrong place that so many people do it today who make no pretense at being as wise as he. The real and abiding blessings of life are those that contribute more to what we are than what we have.......more to follow. Gary
